Walt leads the team as Luuma’s Design & Development Director. With over thirty years of design build experience he is our industry expert. Always putting creativity to work in his firm and constantly looking for ways to enhance workflow and improve collaboration, he still felt that there were gaps not addressed with software. These frustrating and time consuming slow downs drove him to map out the workflow and create LUUMA.
Outside the realm of the design build world Walt is an avid inventor. Anything is possible and “where there’s a will there’s a way” has always been Walt’s mantra. Driven by curiosity and the desire to figure out how things work is a way of life. Luuma is truly a culmination of his lifelong pursuits of designing, building and innovating.
A champion of clarity and advocate for consistency, Julie is Luuma's Communications Director and CoFounder. Julie oversees communication and public relations, fine tuning all brand messaging, and sculpting strategies for brand development. Julie’s continuous research in the ICT field remains the catalyst to shaping all things Luuma. Her wealth of knowledge combined with her uncanny instinct guides her in directing the team towards cutting edge, innovative resources and key networking strategies. She loves words, is passionate about people and communication and has great vision for Luuma.
Matt & Garrett are the dynamic duo of development and are key members of the founding team circa 2013. They work closely together at Wamoozle Inc. and have since day one. They bring different backgrounds and perspectives and provide a strong foundation that makes for a rock solid team. They both see the big picture (in graphic detail) and are able to see the macro and micro simultaneously.
Garrett is a graduate of Queen’s University with an Honours degree in Computer Science with specialization in Software Design. He is our logic guy, serious task master, strategic goal setter and the architect/builder of our database. As Chief Technology Officer he guides Luuma, knows the platform inside and out and keeps us on the cutting edge of agile development. He is a tremendous resource and as Matt so eloquently put it “without Garrett nothing would ever get done”.

Matt is a graduate of McMaster University with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce with a focus in Marketing and a minor in English & Cultural Studies. He is our well rounded, self-taught Experience Designer and Developer and our GUI guru. He says he’s not creative, but we know otherwise just look at Luuma :) He is a detail oriented minimalist who knows how to apply just the right amount of polish. He approaches life with humour and a dash of sarcasm. Although Matt says he lives in the world of self doubt there’s no doubt that Matt is a huge asset to Team Luuma and we don’t know what we’d do without him.

What does Luuma mean anyway? It’s actually a serendipitous misspelling of “luumu” which means “plum” in Finnish. Walt and Julie loved the sound of luuma, felt it was exactly what they were looking for and so Luuma was born.
